Lawatan Lions Club ke Kg. Tudan

Penampang : The Lions Club of Zone 13 at Kampung Tudan, in the Tuaran constituency recently held a joint social and health project.

The project was co-chaired by Lion Doreen Jominol (Zone 13 chairperson) and Lion Callistus Majalang (president of Lions Club Penampang Host).

The participating organizations were the Lions Club of Penampang (Host), Lions Club of Penampang (Hongkod), Lions Club of KK Host, Lions Club of KK Donwntown, Penampang Health Department, Sabah Anyi-TB Association (SABATA), Rafflesia Medical Centre and Universiti Malaysia Sabah medical school.

Dr. Emelina Tan briefed the villagers on the H1N1 and 104 people were de-wormed.

Fifty-eight villagers had their vision (eyes) screened by the UMS medical team.

Dr. Lokama Rajagopal and her Rafflesia Medical Centre team did 42 dental checks and extractions for 28 children and 14 adults while the Lions Club screened 70 for diabetes and hypertension.

Used clothings, books, toys and shoes were distributed to the villagers, including leaflets on health issues.

A recruitment exercise was also held for girls with form three and five certificates to take up courses with the Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) in Kuala Lumpur.

There was also a new voter registeration exercise.

The project benefited 150 villagers.
